Delhi government through its DoE has begun the process of admitting students to nursery, KG, and Class 1 for the academic year 2025-26. This process will commence on the 28th of November 2024. 25% of the total seats will be reserved for Economically Weaker Sections, Disadvantaged Groups, and Divyang children. Different lists will be prepared in these categories. Let’s look at some important questions and their answers related to this process:
What are the age requirements for Delhi Nursery Admission
- Nursery (Pre-School): The child must be of the age of three and below the age of four as of the 31st of March year 2025.
- KG (Pre-Primary): Age must be within the range of 4 years and just below 5 years.
- Class 1: Which mandatory requirements that must be fulfilled are that the age of the child must be at least 5 years but cannot exceed 6 years of age.

Which proof documents are recommended for residence?
The Directorate of Education has recognized the following documents as residence certificates:
- Ration card or smart card (Family card or in the name of parents one child).
- A residence certificate in the name of the child or parents as the case may be an EPIC card (which entitles one to a voter’s card) in the name of either of the parents.
- Utility bills, such as electricity, telephone or water bills, in the name of either the parent or the child.
- Aadhaar card/UID, in the name of either parent or child, where it has been issued
What if there is a tie?
If more than one student gets the same marks, then the schools will randomly select (=Lucky Draw). This will be done through a computerized system, or in the presence of the parents of the child or children involved. The draw will be videographed and to ensure that all episodes entailing the draw are captured on camera, the school will take a stewardship of the record.
Is it possible to have any relaxation in the age limit related to physical disabilities?
School heads have the right to relax the age limit by up to 30 days. The manual application can also be used by parents to make communication with the specific school principal.
